Alprobic Plus by Alvetra & Werfft is an oral rehydration powder developed specifically for calves struggling with neonatal diarrhoea or metabolic acidosis. Simply mix 35 g into a litre of lukewarm water – the product can also be mixed with milk, so the calf won't refuse to drink even when its body needs hydration the most.

The formula was developed in collaboration between veterinarians and agricultural engineers and contains everything a weakened calf needs to regain its strength:

• Electrolytes and buffering agents to compensate for fluid loss and restore acid-base balance
• Glucose, dextrose and rice as a source of both fast and slow-release energy
• Fructooligosaccharides, propectins and brewer's yeast to support digestion
• Spirulina, linseed oil, betaine and ascorbic acid for replenishing nutrients and aiding recovery

The recommended duration of use is 1–7 days depending on the animal's condition. Always consult your veterinarian first – they can best assess how long and in what regimen to administer the product to your calves.
